Episcopal Day School Structure, Governance & Purpose
Episcopal Day School (EDS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in affiliation with the Church of the Holy Cross and under the governance of a Board of Directors. Daily operations are overseen by Executive Director Allison Thomas.
The purpose of EDS is to provide an exceptional early childhood education experience in an enriching and nurturing learning environment that establishes a lifelong love of learning and a solid foundation for future academic success. Through our Quest Academy program, we extend that commitment beyond the preschool years to offer academic enrichment to school-aged children in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
We also seek to ignite a life of purpose in each student through the development of an educated conscience; challenge all students by capitalizing on their passions and interests; make exceptional academic curriculum accessible to all students in Lamar County; and to promote a faith-informed foundation of values.
Furthermore, EDS aims to develop in children a desire to serve God and humanity, to respect the environment, and to appreciate the arts. We value the dignity of every human being, as we believe that each child is a unique individual, created in and reflecting the image of a loving God. We are committed to establishing, maintaining, and nurturing a diverse, safe, and inclusive environment where people of all faith traditions are welcomed, valued, and heard.
